Gruene Hall & Grist Mill

We headed out to Gruene again recently for some free live music (Tatum's first time in Gruene Hall) and some delicious food at Grist Mill.  

Gramma and Papa came along for the fun.

Oh, and you can't forget the ice cream at the General Store.  There's just something about the way it tastes there and those yummy sugar cones...

New Braunfels Children's Museum

Tatum, Gramma, and I made our first trip to the McKenna Children's Museum in New Braunfels.  I've been hearing great things about it for a while and now I see why everyone loves it.  Once all the school field trip kiddos go their own way, it's a WONDERFUL learning adventure for little ones.

  

Tatum had a lot to keep her busy.  They have a central playing area with trains, blocks, a toddler space, and themed area.  The current theme was camping, I guess.  They had a teepee set up, "fishing", a bat cave, and several tents and small kayaks the kiddos could play in.  Along the perimeter are various area the kids can explore, like a grocery store, play house, hardware store, bank, art room, ER, space ship, and an entire outdoor water/splash area.  Tatum was also quite taken with the huge aquarium with baby crocodiles, or were they alligators??  Who knows.  They were pretty darn cute!

There was even a "Bevo" you could touch and a really cool projector room where you could interact with the images being projected.  On one screen there were butterflies flying around and if you stood still enough, butterflies would start landing on your shadow.  It was awesome.  On the other side were waterfalls of colored beads that would fall around the shapes your shadow would make.  I could have spend about an hour playing in there.  Tatum, not so much.  I'm not sure how the technology did it, but it was COOL! 

Snow Day (yep, a while ago)

Check out the flurries we got on Flite Acres!  It was nothing like Austin... no accumulation, but it did snow long enough for me to throw T outside in her jammies so we could capture the moment, fleeting as it was.  The best snow we got was smack dab in the middle of her nap.  You all know by now that it's going to take more than snow for me to wake a sleeping baby! :)

Quick Trip To Gruene

We enjoyed another quick trip over the Gruene a few weeks ago.  Maybe we're craving Grist Mill and ice cream?
