Aquarena Springs

If you haven't been to Aquarena Springs before, or haven't been in a while, GO!

We enjoyed the glass bottom boat tour of Spring Lake, the head of the San Marcos River.  You were able to see the springs on the lake bottom, lots of beautiful dancing vegetation, several species of fish, and lots of turtles.

Tatum loved to point out the turtles and watch the glass bottom kayaks on our 30 minute tour.  I was afraid she might have been a little too young, but I definitely think she got something out of it.

I enjoyed learning more about the center's amusement park history (first amusement park in the nation!) and love that Texas State has taken over, providing a wonderful learning environment for their programs as well as the public.

It s a bummer that Ralph the swimming pig is no longer an attraction.

With your boat ride, you receive free admission into their aquarium.  It was small and sweet, but just right for a 2.5 year old.  She loved the turtles and seeing the blind salamanders.  You can also walk the boardwalk over the wetlands before you head home.
